Drawing
Watercolor artists also need drawing materials. Begin each painting with a value sketch and a design sketch. Find a sketchbook and some drawing pencils you are comfortable with. I favor using a #2B or #3B pencil for sketching because these pencils contain a soft lead that, when combined with a soft touch, will leave light impression. A kneaded eraser will not damage the paper surface of a sketchbook or watercolor paper. But try to avoid erasing as much as possible.
