How to Choose the Right Color

When trying to choose the main color to use for a project, room, etc. consider these things:

  1. What goal or mood you are trying to convey? Which color fits most closely?
  2. Who is your audience? If your audience comes from a different cultural background, do some more research about color meanings in that culture to avoid miscommunication.
  3. How strongly do you want your message to come across? If your color seems too strong, tone it down or use a different shade or tint of that color.
  4. Does your chosen color also have some negative connotations you want to avoid? Try using a different shade, tint or tone of that color.
  5. Trust your instincts. If a color makes you feel a certain way, it is likely it will make others feel that way too.
