The Cows
The goal with our cow herd is for higher fertility and more moderate framed high efficiency cattle. We want our cows to have their first calf when they are two years old and a calf every year after that without our assistance. And to wean a calf that weighs 50% of the cow's weights on a forage diet. We use management intensive rotational grazing to increase the quality and quantity of our forages.
What we look for in our cows:
- Sound body structure
- Small but capable udder
- Sound feet
- Ability to raise healthy calf
