Simplicity

When taking photos it is not always necessary to shoot a busy scene. Keeping it simple can actually have more of an effect and look beautiful. Avoid busy backgrounds when taking photos and just focus on the main subject. You don't want your viewers eyes to be distracted away from the subject.

Rule of thirds

A very common compostition to remember in photography is the rule of thirds. Don't center your photos and imagine dividing up the shot into a grid of thirds (3x3). The rule of thirds adds interest to your photos.

Leading lines

Having leading lines in a photo can help lead the viewer's eye to the main subject of the photo. They can also create depth in a photo.

Framing

Using elements around the subject you are photographing can be great to use as a frame for your photo. Framing your photo can draw the viewer's eye right to the main subject.

Experiment with different angles and such

The more you experiement with different angles the more comfortable you will become. Everyone has their own style, so don't feel like you have to abide by all the rules. Just have fun with it!
