Beeswax Candles

Down Arrow

Many people use paraffin to make candles but beeswax burns more slowly and smells delicious. Follow these steps to make your own candles... and set the mood for a candle-light dinner. If you enjoy this item, then please support the pollinators who made it possible!

You will need:

1 large container of ice water
1 melting pot (or an old pan on a stovetop)
1 roll of wick
2-3 pounds of beeswax

  1. Heat the beeswax in the melting pot until liquid.

  2. Cut a length of wick long enough for two candles (length is up to you) plus three inches.

  3. Pinch the center of the wick and pull the ends down so they hang straight. Dip them into the wax, then into the ice water over and over until the candle is the size you want. If the wax does not build up, let it cool a little and try to dip the wick again.

  4. Hand the dipped candles on a line to solidify.

    hang to dry

  5. Be sure to thank the bees!
