UKULELES

The ukulele is a Hawaiian string instrument that was developed in the 19th century. A Ukulele typically has four nylon strings and is a member of the lute family, which is closely related to the guitar and mandolin. The ukulele was popularized by the Hawaiian culture, and once the United States acquired Hawaii as a state in 1959, it quickly spread to the mainland states and elsewhere in the world. The popularity of this little instrument is due mostly to its accessibility, relatively inexpensive price, and its simple structure which makes for easy learning and playing.
