SIZES

Ukuleles typically come in four different sizes, all of which serve a different purpose as far as the style of playing. The Soprano, or standard ukulele, is the smallest of the main four, at approximately 20-21 inches long, and is the most common, due to the fact that the first ukuleles were soprano sized. The next size up is the Alto Ukulele, better known as the Concert Ukulele, which comes in at between 23 and 24 inches. This one was developed for a little louder and deeper tone, while still maintaining the classic ukulele sound. The next two sizes up are the Tenor and Baritone Ukuleles. These are less common and were both developed recently. The Tenor comes in at about 26 inches, and the Baritone usually is around 29 inches long, and each model is made for a deeper tone and an extended range in some cases, making them all-around more versatile instruments.
