Christ Church of La Crosse
Story
The Church was built in Romanesque Revival architectural style. The architect was M.S. Detweiler. It was built in 1898, costing $30,000 and financed by wealthy families of the city. It was built to be a cathedral, the Episcopal Church decided to have the cathedral in Eau Claire. It is currently used as a normal church for the diocese of Eau Claire. The church has also been known as Episcopal Church of La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Historic Significance
The building is of historical significance because of the Romanesque Revival style and the Tiffany window in the south transept. It became a National Historical Place in June 1985. Minor alterations and restoration have been necessary, the structure remain essentially as it was built.
