Card Games

Card games are a very well know category of tabletop gaming. Card games require cards to play with and a flat surface to play them on. Card games include games like poker and also trading games like Pokemon. I will focus on trading card games, since they are the nerdier side of tabletop gaming that is dying. Often trading card games have a battle format to them where you play your cards 1v1 against another human. The trading card game for today is Magic the Gathering.

Magic the Gathering

Magic the Gathering is the most popular trading card game to date. It focuses on an epic battle between summoners. Summoners are wizards who summon creatures with mana to fight for them. The standard playstyle starts you off against another summoner with 20 health each. To play tournaments you need to keep your deck legal. A legal deck consists of these two requirements.

• A minimum of 60 cards in a deck.
• Cards pre-existing within the past year of releases.
