Backstory

Ah, backstory. Backstory are what defines your character; who he/she is. It tells why he/she act like this or look like that.

Family/Friends

Like us, our friends and families have a big impact on who we are, and same goes for writing a character. He/she should have an appropriate behavior base on other surrounding characters. A sibling who he/she look up too, an outcast at school or an abusive father. All these will determine how the character look and interact within the story.

Life Experience

Talking about abusive father, life experience is one of the key factor on how a character act and behave. At some moment in our life, an event happens where we gave ourselves a purpose in life. A loner who set out to find a purpose, an abused child promised never to do the same thing to his/her kids yet he struggle because he have a quick temper.

Dialogue/Speech

Every character should have a different way he/she speaks also. This help differentiate linear characters from each other and set the mood on how reader should expect this character to be. A tough guy should sound tough, and a clever person, clever.

A crazy dude saying, who the *bleeb* are you looking at.
