SATA Devices

SATA Connectors Most devices such as CD drives, hard drives, and other internal hardware is now being connected to the motherboard by a SATA connector. SATA stands for Serial Advanced Technology Attachment. To know if your product is connected by SATA it will say either SATA or Serial ATA on the box or instructions. You also can find out if your device is SATA by looking at the import port on the device. It will have a L shape tipped to the right 90 degrees (see image 1).

Installing the device

  1. Follow the procedures from the getting start page.
  2. Open the computer case and put your device in it's correct area in the computer case.
  3. Take the SATA cord and plug it into the corresponing import port.
  4. Take the other end of the SATA cord and plug it into any of the SATA ports on your motherboard.(See image 1).
  5. After the SATA cord is plugged in both ends turn on your computer and the device should automatically install the drivers for it.
