What is Quilting
Quilting is the method of sewing two or more layers together to make a thicker padded material. You can quilt by hand, with a sewing machine or by a special longarm quilting system.
Typical quilting has three layers: the top fabric, the middle which is usually batting or an insulating material and the backing material. The quilter can either sew by hand or with a sewing machine. The stich most commonly used is a running stitch. Quilting can be used for many creative uses such as quilts, wall art and clothing.
There are many places to find fabric and other quilting accessories. Many fabric stores give quilting classes for those who choose to learn.
